A couple of years ago, Evie told me that my same “tricks” that I used to parent her brother and sister won’t work on her. Coming from a 7-year-old, I was pretty shocked but took note and upped my parenting game. While it hasn’t always been easy, I’ve learned a lot, have grown as a person, and have seen a big change in our little Tiger (she’s born the year of the tiger).
In my outings for groceries, I’ve seen a lot of things missing from the shelves, but really surprises me is all of the bottled water missing. Not large 2.5 Gallon jugs, but small water bottles meant for one-time use.*
The right thing to do is not always the easiest but right now we are being forced to up our humanity game and it would do us best to listen; for us, for our children, and for all who inhabit this Earth. Let’s not mess this up.
*Please remember that less than 9% of all recyclable plastic actually gets recycled. A lot of it is shipped to other countries that actually burn it. Please think about that next time you want to buy little plastic water bottles.
